Khmer Hindu Ritual Multi-Armed Ganesha Stupa Finial Urn Overview: Buddhist Monk Ritual Naga Protected Ganesha Urn and Yoni Stupa. Bronze Alloy. - The two piece bronze is fitted with Lord Ganesha standing atop the stupa, flanked below by the auspicious multi-headed Naga, followed down by the supporting Urn and Yoni base. The bottom sets on four spheres. Description: Atop the stupa finial is a superb example of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity from Hindu mythology, son of Shiva and Parvati, known as the 'Remover of Obstacles'. The deity is intricately modeled in traditional Hindu style, depicted standing precariously on an adorned stupa, with four-arms holding attributes, surrounded by multi-headed Naga (serpent), supported by a lidded Urn resting atop a Yoni pedestal. He is poised with his legs apart, the knees raised, shown unclothed above the waist, exposing his large pot belly practically falling over his garment, wearing a short Sampot, secured by a plain belt tied around his waist. Ganesha's well proportioned head is beautifully rendered with almond shaped eyes, broken tusks, trunk whorled, and large ears resting on his shoulders. He wears tightly matted braided hair bound by an inter-connected 'Diadem' crown, rising to a conical-shaped headdress, and topped by a bulbous ornament.
