The top panels depict the figure of a jackal on top of a shrine, representing the embalming god Anubis. Below him, the panels depict the four sons of Horus, gods who protected the vital organs of the body after mummification. At the back is baboon-headed Hapi, protector of the lungs followed by the human-headed Imsety, protector of the liver. Next is the jackal-headed Duamutef, protector of the stomach and at the front, hawk-headed Qubehsenuef, protector of the intestines all seated and balancing a feather. Condition: Fragment from a larger piece, intact with excellent remaining red, green, yellow, white and black polychrome. Mounted in display box. Dimensions: height: 5 1/4 inches (13.3 cm), length: 7 7/8 inches (20 cm) Provenance: Simonian family collection, Switzerland acquired in the 1960's and then by descent.
