A lovely black-figure kylix (drinking cup) with finely shaped twin squared-off handles, a wide, evenly sloping bowl, and a delicate round foot joined to the body by a short neck - sides A and B painted with a similar scene featuring a bearded satyr (left) interacting with a maenad (right) in silhouette, flanked by a pair of palmettes. The underside of the concave base features a dotted circle makers mark characteristic of Attic ware. Size: 8.125" W handlespan x 3" H (20.6 cm x 7.6 cm) #124234 Condition: Repaired from about 5 pieces with stable radiating fissures and breaklines. Surface shows some wear with areas of pigment loss, but painting is very nice. The black surface shows iridescence.
