Seller: artemisgallery (684) 100%, Location: Louisville, CO, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 382508935419 Greek Corinthian Pottery Kylix w/ Ibex and Birds Greece, Corinth, ca. 7th to 6th century BCE. A gorgeous, striking, pale buff vessel, a cup for drinking wine, with black and red motifs in a register around its body of an ibex and three birds - two peacocks and one swan or goose. Above and below the register are repeated vertical lines in red and orange. The kylix stands on a small, round foot and immediately below the rim are two small, horizontal loop handles. The interior is black but it may once have had some bands of red pigment that have changed color with time. The animals are delightfully detailed and the artist has created this effect in part by removing small quantities of paint within the motifs to reveal narrow buff lines - a hallmark of Corinthian pottery from this time period. Size: 7.65" L x 5.35" W x 3.6" H (19.4 cm x 13.6 cm x 9.1 cm) #124228 Condition: Repaired from multiple pieces. Iconography remains intact.
