Seller: artemisgallery (680) 100%, Location: Louisville, CO, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 381865853739 Pair Antique Mexican Iron / Leather Spurs, Gold Inlay Latin America, Mexico, ca. 1750 to 1900 CE. These are two iron spurs that are not a matched pair but that complement each other with interesting designs. Both have beautiful tooled artwork on the arms, neck, and straps; the smaller of the two has an applied strip of brass with leaf designs. One has six rowels while the other has roughly 30 in tight formation. One has a remaining leather strap which is worn, suggesting that it was well used. The straps are worn at the buckles, suggesting that these spurs were well-used. Mexican vaqueros (and occasional vaqueras) are the quintessential cowboy, and their techniques for managing cattle across the wide open landscapes of Mexico and what is today the American west were the inspiration for the iconic figure of America's Wild West. Spurs like these are a connection to the factual roots of that mythical past. Size of largest: 7" L x 2-3/4" rowel diameter (17.8 cm x 7 cm). #110849 Condition: Both have rust and wear; one is missing its leather strap.
