Item:113175223358An Early Paleolithic Achulean Hand Axe from the desert of Morocco. This is a complete specimen, flintknapped from a dark chert. It is heavily patinated from hundreds of thousands of years exposure to the arid desert environment. The flake scars still have definition, but have been smoothed, with its surface polished through eons of desert sandstorms. An excellent, perfect example, that is well formed with the 'classic' hand axe shape/design. Measurements are approximately 5 1/8" long X 2 3/4" wide by up to 1.5” thick.
