Made on a flint nodule using a stone hammer to bifacially remove bold flakes leading to the creation of a pointed chopping tip.The flake scars are all well patinated with the same brownish patination colours. As such it can be seen that the flakes were all removed at the same time in sequence. This reduction sequence is proof of the hominid origin of this ancient handaxe. This is a genuine Lower Palaeolithic tool made & used by Homo heidelbergensis. PLEASE NOTE - a genuine English Lower Palaeolithic artefact will, with very few exceptions, have a patina on account of its great age. Supplied labelled with locality details.
