Dating to Egypt's famous Amarna period, the XVIII Dynasty, circa 1353 - 1337 BC. Crouching as if ready to spring away at any moment, this precious faience frog has a wonderful energy. Its striking sense of vitality suits its purpose as a charm to ensure eternal life, as does the ankh (life) symbol impressed into the base. Diameter: 9.50 mm Condition: Excellent, with no restorations and with a vibrant blue glaze. Provenance: Ex. Collection of Elias. S David (1891 - 1969). Elias S.
