It has a characteristic Etruscan shape with a flanged hilt and wide, curved crescent pommel. The slender hilt widens in the central area with wide concave shoulders. There are three rivet holes most likely to secure scales, which may have been wooden in the period this was used. The double edged blade tapers and has a medial ridge. The tip of the blade is slightly bent, possibly from thrusting in some form of combat.Overall Length: 27.7 cm (10.91 inches) The Etruscan culture covered a small area of the Italian peninsula, making Etruscan Villanovan swords and daggers extremely rare compared to other ancient bronze swords and daggers, including bronze weapons from the Luristan, Chinese and Greek cultures.
