Item:253701513167Ancient Heian Style Figure - JAPAN - Ex: NYC Collection Rare wooden shrine figure, most likely from the Heian Period of Japan. This figure is scarce due to the age, size and country of origin. Made of a hard, figured wood (probably cedar), this statue is most likely over 1000 years old. Some losses, as expected. Both arms lost in antiquity, and proper right foot mostly missing (see photos). Integral tenon on both feet fit securely in museum quality base. Figure stands securely and regally. Custom black wood base is approximately 8" x 6" x 2". Purchased years ago at auction, this was part of an important NYC Collection of Asian antiques.
