Antique 1870's EASTLAKE Carved Arch Top Footstool, Foot Rest. A beautiful carved walnut footstool measuring about 8" tall, 15.5" long, and 11.5" wide. Found at a local estate sale, this stool has seen some repair work over the years, with the fabric on the top a replacement (I believe the velvet sides MAY be original, as velvet was the typical covering for these back in the day), and some damage to the wood on one side (old glue repairs for breaks, with later screw and nail reinforcements through the bottom). The end result has been a prolonged life for this very lovely example! The stool is currently plenty sturdy enough for normal use, but it is not meant to be sat upon because there is some play to the repair when wiggled by hand. I am sure this could be remedied by a skilled person.
