This is the Rarest of the Trader Banks.
It’s an old cast iron bank, made in 1891, in the shape of the main building of the old Traders Bank of Canada at the corner of Colbourne & Yonge Streets in downtown Toronto.
It’s missing four finials and has some other damage. Study all photos closely before bidding. Photos #3 and #4 show broken part of the base. Photos #5 and #6 show small piece of the side missing near the base.
The most interesting thing about the bank was that it was given away to top bank customers.
Only 1500 of these banks were ever made. When the program was abandoned, many of the banks were emptied and scrapped. This makes this old cast iron bank very rare.
The bank measures 10-1/4" wide by 8-1/2" high by 5-1/4" deep.
Peace.
