Rare, Original, Antique Brass WINTER PIPPINS Apple Crate Stencil in Very Good Condition. This stencil is from an early 20th century storekeeper named I.G. MICK from Cresco, Pennsylvania who sold this fruit in his store. Newtown Pippin was popularised by well-known figures such as Thomas Jefferson and George Washington, and was very much an apple of its time. Newtown Pippin is best regarded as a "Winter" apple. It is picked quite late in the season - late October in the eastern USA. It is hard and unappetising if eaten straight from the tree, instead it should be stored for 1 - 2 months, before being used over the winter period. Newton Pippin is a notably versatile apple, being excellent for eating fresh, cooking, and for juicing and hard cider. This rare stencil is shipped protected by corrugated cardboard in a bubble wrap envelope with tracking and insurance. Shipped Only in The USA.
