Seller: ricfit-48 (1) 100%, Location: Vista, California, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 124058819836 ANTIQUE BRONZE EGYPTIAN ARTIFACT DEPECTING A PHARAOH. The artifact shows a face with stone eyes, a nemese - lapeletes flowing behind ear and over shoulders, and falcons on the shoulder on each side of the head and hints of a cobra on the forehead. These elements of dress are only present in a pharaoh. The headdress is that of Isis and would show the pharaoh as a god. The artifact was purchased in Memphis outside the colossal reclining statue of Rameses II. It was purchased in the 70’s. The vendor was outside and at the foot of the statue he stated it was found in the marsh near the end of the giant statue close to the river Nile. As this is a broken piece it was likely discarded in the swamp. The following is my opinion:The artifact is well made and, at first glance, one would think of a broken mirror, however the sides of the object extended form into a “V” shape, and the hole in the back is heavier that need be for a mirror. The shape is is more like a hoe. The “V” shape can make in the furrows and the Isis end can put seed rows in the top of the furrow. If it is a utilitarian piece it is very elaborate. If I were to speculate I would say the artifact is from around 1200-1300 BCE same time as Rameses II at the time that Memphis was at its prime.
