Item:123904102712This chuval was made in the Fethiye area of southern Anatolia sometime during the first quarter of the 20th century. It is 100% wool, it measures 2’ 6” X 3’ 5” and it is in very good condition. Hexagon medallions are displayed in three horizontal panels. Each medallion holds a diamond, two ram’s horns and two hands-on-hip motifs. An amulet is attached to the center of the middle panel. The main panels are bordered top and bottom by guard bands containing repeating geometric designs. The back of this bag has multiple narrow vertical bands in black, aubergine, gold, red, brown and mauve and a wider band in red containing two large star motifs. The band around the sides and bottom of the bag are woven with a combination of wool and animal hair. One of the straps at the top of the bag has been broken off. The colors have faded, probably from exposure to extended periods of direct sunlight. All reasonable offers will be considered. Cost of shipping to domestic addresses via UPS Ground is included in the sales price. Shipping to international addresses is available via the eBay Global Shipping Program.
