For your consideration today, we have an antique reticulated porcelain pedestal compote. I believe this beautiful piece dates back to the early-mid 19th century. It strongly resembles the French Empire pieces that I’ve seen. It is a white reticulated porcelain with a heavy gold gilt. It is 2 pieces, held together with a long screw and wing nut. The base measures 3-3/4” square, the entire piece measures approximately 7.5” tall, and the diameter of the basket top is about 9”. This piece weighs approximately 2 pounds, 5 ounces. There are no markings to help identify its maker, and the gold gilt is very worn. It has some discolorations and scratches inside the bottom of the basket. I believe the hardware has been replaced at some point in time. This is a remarkable piece, with no chips or cracks, and would make a beautiful centerpiece!! Each preowned piece tells a unique story so may show minor wear and tear due to its age and previous sentiment to its original owners.
