Antique 18thC French Silk Chenille Embroidery Pelmet Fragments With Gold Metallic Thread

Description

Set of two (2) French 18th century pelmet fragments with silk chenille and metallic thread embroidery.

View the final photo and you will see the embroidery is done through the silk fabric (so is not an applique on top of the fabric). 

The designs are similar, the worked area measures 15.5" x 17" on the larger piece and 14" x 13" on the smaller piece (see photos).

Taking these textiles age into consideration the condition of the silk embroidery is wonderful. The silk fabric has deteriorated on the front and back. The metallic is in great condition, no missing pieces. Too lovely to describe, colors are magnificent, as is the artistry of the embroidery. Everything is original.
