Antique French Sterling Silver Clad Salad Set, Louis XV Style, Page Frères , Ca 1901-1906 T his handsome antique French sterling silver clad salad set is made up of a serving fork and spoon. The upper parts are ivoirine . The handles are beautifully designed in the Louis XV “ Contours ” style with leaves and stylized shells. Each piece bears the French “ Minerve Premier Titre ” hallmark, indicating the highest quality of French sterling silver (950/1000), used in Paris since 1838. The Minerve Premier Titre is the guarantee that the sterling is at least 95% silver. The middle part of the handles bears the French “Boar’s Head” hallmark used in Paris since 1838 and indicating the quality of French sterling silver for small objects. The handles also bear the maker’s mark of Page Frères , Parisian master silversmiths located in the rue de Réaumur between 1901 and 1906, consisting of the image of a star above a gaiter and the letters “ P. Fres ”. The handles are monogrammed with the interlaced initials “D” and “S”. This set is offered in its original case which is also monogrammed with the initials “D” and “S” in gilded letters on the cover. This set is in very good condition with the exception of faint scratches on the handles and slight yellowing on the upper parts, all due to great age and normal use. The case shows significant signs of wear. This exquisite salad set will be an authentically antique French addition to your table setting or your collection.
