These beads could be dated to the 19th century. They were manufactured in Murano expressly for the trade with Africa, see "Collectible Beads", by Robert K. Liu, or "The History of Beads" by Lois Sherr Dubin. Particularly see the sixth and seventh volumes dedicated to the "Millefiori Beads from Western African Trade" and to the "Chevron and Nueva Cadiz Beads" by John and Ruth Picard, of Picard African Imports. (Take a look also at the other five because this string include a lot of different kinds of beads) The beads are in good condition, they have wearing signs commisurate to the age, please look carefully to our pics. The size of the beads is really remarkable, because they have a length approx of 38/42mm., and a diameter of 14/17mm. (13 big beads, alternated to 14 blue chevrons with 3/4 layers, measuring from 8 to11mm. of length and 15/12mm. of diameter). Four beads have a quite rare pattern (the 3rd, 5th, 9th, 11th) to find, and you can see the same pattern (in a different shape) in the bead 0070 in our list. This string has been found in Mali, and the beads were collected in Nigeria, Niger, Mali and Ghana.
