Cooke & Sons, Hull model, Serial #2394. This is a lattice frame sextant with brass arc. The signed certificate matches the stamped number on the arc. There is a milled wheel vernier, clamping lever, sets of colored filters, mirror and split mirror and telescope in fitted mahogany box. The sextant has a 6.5" radius (with intact Certificate dated 23/12/63). It also comes with an Kosaka Marine, Kobe Japan examination certificate (dtd 15JUL1971) showing it to be "error free" The Sextant is in Excellent condition (see photos) and comes with the original fitted Mahogany wood case. The Sextant has a frame of blackened brass. The Sextant is approximately 9 1/2" by 10" by 5". All parts are present and functioning. The glass and filters are unbroken. The Wood Case is intact, it measures 11" by 12 1/2" by 6" with brass handle and fully functioning brass latches and hinges. The case is dovetailed in all corners has felt covered wood holding blocks, a bracket for holding the original oil bottle in place, and a notch for holding the telescope lens cap. There is minimal finish wear to the exterior of the case. The case has a lock that appears to be in good shape, however I do not have the key. On the box lid in an old label that partially shows "The Blue Funnel Line - Alfred Holt", suggesting that this Sextant was used by the Blue Funnel Line which at the time this Sextant was used was the Largest First Class Passenger Steamers to S.
