The Birmingham Guild of Handicraft produced fine quality metalware and furniture, equal and if not superior to the work of contemporary W.A.S. Benson, capitalising on the revolutionary development of electricity as a new power source and the subsequent need for new electric light fittings. Arthur Dixon was the chief designer and head of the metalwork workshop, working with other renowned craftsmen Albert Edward Jones and Thomas Birkett. Very few examples of genuine original antique handcrafted BGH lighting and metalwork exist. Please see my BGH wall lights and log basket for sale in separate listings.
