Important mid-18th century engraved map of Australia.
The entire easetern coastline is pure speculation, the map pre-dates Cooks definitive mapping voyages two decades later. thus, we see here Van Diemens Land (Tasmania) attached to the continent itself. The northern coastline is also incorrect and appears continuous with New Guinea. Far low right is the coastline of New Zealand which cites the 1642 visit by Abel Tasman

An actual antique/ vintage printed sheet of paper, not a modern copy or reprint.
Sheet remains well preserved but shows light signs of age. Some age wear or surface spotting/ soiling, all of which is hopefully visible within the zoomable scan. Still, a very nice old print.

Paper and image remains overall clean & sound. Old maps & prints often display small minor repairs on the back, could have uneven blank margins, might have extraneous fold-lines or other small minor age flaws which do not detract from the visual appeal or value. Condition is carefully considered in arriving at our price.

This website is currently physically located in a rambling c.1820 house in southern New Hampshire which you may visit by prior appointment to inspect specific items you've seen online. We also maintain a separate and equally large inventory and reference library in a c.1790 cape & barn which is also available for year-round visits by prior appointment.
I cannot emphasize enough that everything offered really is old, authentic and genuine as described. We do not sell fakes, reproductions, modern copies of old items, etc. I personally guarantee the authenticity of every single item we sell without hesitation for as long as you own it. When you buy old items online, you should probably examine the source. We invite your inspection.
