***NOTE- MOST PRINTS ARE MUCH SHARPER, WITH BETTER COLOR & SATURATION. WE MAY BE HAVING AN EBAY CAUSED ERROR: POOR  SHARPNESS, COLOR, & RESOLUTION PROBLEMS WITH THE PHOTO YOU SEE HERE.  EBAY HAS NEVER FIXED THIS**

This is a beautiful quality giclee photo of a surrealistic 20 foot Waimea Bay shorebreak wave from an original 35mmVelvia transparency, cropped, and mounted on a single black 8x10 inch backing board (see photo, **includes white line and black margins seen here as part of the print), Haleiwa, north Oahu, Hawaii by longtime Hawaii professional surfing photographer Bill Romerhaus. This one of our most popular wave photos. It is also a little grainy as it was shot on Velvia transparency film, and the white border is part of the print and not a matt board cutout. It is shrink wrapped to protect it from damage, initialed (BR) as you can see here, and has photography and preservation tips included in the label on the back.

Waimea Bay is one the largest surf breaks in the world. It is also home of the Eddie Aikau Memorial Big Wave Surfing contest only held when the waves are at least 25 foot high. Waimea shorebreak waves are some of the most powerful on earth, generated by far distant North Pacific Ocean storms during the winter months (Sept-March). They are an incredible example of the ocean's mightiness. This 20 foot high wave is breaking in water only about four feet deep. It has been said that one wave this size if harnessed for energy could provide enough electrical power to light a thousand homes for over an hour. Native Hawaiians, surfers, and a lot of oriental people consider these magnificent waves to be a supreme example of power and manifested with the spirit of mother nature. To actually see these waves breaking along the shoreline is an awesome, humbling, and unforgettable experience. This print is very popular at retail locations in Hawaii. This would make a great birthday or holiday great gift for a surfer or someone who likes the ocean and nature of Hawaii. They are popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or stores where people can see them.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE:  e-Bay's transfer process and the computer screen may make the photo look contrasty and slightly darker or lighter, depending on your monitor brightness and contrast settings. The color hues may look slightly different and may have a different tonal range and brightness than you may see on your individual computer screen. Please be aware of this. **When it is cropped and attached to the single mat 8x10" black backing board you will be able to see the black backing board around the borders of the print. It makes the print look like there is a wider margin at the top and bottom of the photo (which you can see if you look at the photo, it is longer than wide). An 11x14 inch frame (or larger) with a custom cut mat from a frame shop or art store is the suggested way to display this photo.

Prints are permanently mounted to the acid free backing board using an archival photo adhesive and cannot be easily removed from the backing board without damaging the photo. If you want to use a larger frame and can't figure out how to do it with the photo mounted on the backing board, contact us and we can explain how it can be done. This is recommended for best visual and artistic impact in displaying this photo, although many people are happy using a standard 8x10 inch frame and displaying the image as is.  Prints are copyrighted and the images are not to be used for commercial, promotional use, or reproduced without our written permission.
