Up for auction is this amazing hand-carved wooden (yellow cedar) full mount Steelhead trout by Harold Walker. The painting of this piece is superb and I think that this is one of the best carvings that he ever did! It measures 25 ½ inches long from the tip of the nose to the center of the tail and has a girth of 13 ½ inches around and the whole display is 17 ½ inches high. Harold not only carved and painted this beautiful piece but he also mounted it to a piece of driftwood and created the river bed below it. The base measures 27 inches long and 10 inches wide. I had him create this piece for me back in 1996 and it is signed by him (HW ’96). In addition, there is a brass plate attached to one of the rocks with the caption “Heber Hen, Harold Walker, 16”. The “16” stands for the sixteenth fish that he carved. FYI, the Heber River is close to where I live and only has summer run Steelhead in it. This carving is exactly what a hen from that stream looks like. E-mail me with any questions.
