Bernie Brown:
Born in 1951 in the small town of Climax, Saskatchewan, Bernie has always lived on the prairies. Although he dabbled In art from an early age he has no formal art education and it was not until 1980 that he began to take his art seriously.
Bernie's association with ranching and farm life definitely contributed to his choice of subjects. He began by drawing the prairie people at their varied occupational and recreational activities and as interest in his work has grown he has also accurately captured and preserved the prairie heritage in his drawings of elevators, old buildings and landscapes. Bernie's most recent topics have also included the various wildlife of Western Canada. He chooses to work in pencil and has developed a technique and style all his own. Brown's work has been displayed at the Saskatoon Public Library, Wascana Art Gallery, Provincial Legislative Buildings, Swift Current City Hall, Saskatchewan Potash Corporation and in the private collection of John L. Matson in Perry, New York. Since 1986 Brown's work has also been shown at the Calgary Stampede Art Show and the Canadian Indoor Rodeo Finals. Many galleries in Western Canada and Montana presently display his work.
Bernie and his family live in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
