Beautiful and rare mid-century Bijan J. Bijan (1936 – 2016 Iranian/American) bronze and copper brutalist sculpture featuring a young boy in bronze reading a book with seagulls in copper, mounted on a marble base. Bronze sculpture is stamped Bijan and numbered 56-250. Bijan was a major force in the mid-century metal art movement and considered by many to be The Father of Metal Sculpture.  Measures 10 ¾” high x 5 ½” x 5 ½” and is in overall Excellent condition, note there may have been additional seagulls on the original sculpture.
