Seller: neilsowards (7,051) 100%, Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 153158200967 Burma, Myanmar. Carved teak wall plaque. 12 by 4 inch . (305 x 97 mm) Burmese Dragon. The Burmese dragon is found at the entrances of temples. Teak used to be fairly common in Burma but so much has been harvested, it is now scarce and expensive. Last I heard it is now $10,000 per cubic meter. It is very good for ship decks. Our battleships have teak decks. Now when they tear down old buildings, they salvage the teak. Also Burma is developing. No longer are people willing to work for thirty cents a day. Wages are now up to $3 per day! The last time I visited in 2013 I noticed a significant decline in the quality of the art work because they wanted to produce more (for more income) in less time. These are carved on one side and uncarved on the wall side. They were carved from #1 teak and not salvaged teak. This item is from the estates of my parents and sister. My parents were missionaries to Burma 1921 to 1966 (with breaks). My sister was born there and visited a number to times so their Burma items were collected 1921 to about 2010. Lots may be combined to save on postage. The $26.95 is for Registered First Class Mail. If I can send it via eBay, I will refund excess postage. Material: Carved Teak, Provenance: Ownership History Available
