Burmese Cinnabar Lacquer Betel Nut Box (Kun-It) made of lacquered woven bamboo These cylindrical boxes are made of lacquered woven bamboo and contains a fitted tray inside to hold the various items necessary to make quids of betel. The main lacquer is a deep cinnabar color. The boxes are covered with intricate designs of dancers and deities and beautiful scroll work on the edges and filigree details throughout. This lacquer box- Among few survived object of the family & era ,it belongs; * cinnabar lacquer color.* Hand crafted * Hand Painted* Burmese Betel nut Box * Not signed * Not Marked* Circa Early 1900. This box; 6.5" tall x 7.0" dia. all side . Max. Approx. 1 trays - 6.9" all side- 1.5" depth, 3 bowls- 1.5" x 2.0" Unpacked Weight- 840 grams OVER HANGING LIDS. Condition- Its painting part is all most disappeared. Apart from ageing tear wear- its bottom has been refurbished and repaired by previous owner. Surface crack lines , fading and edge damage- lacquer creaking. I must say, these imperfection does increase its aesthetically values.
