It's made of solid, heavy, thick, cast iron and has a lovely design consisting of a feather and leaves. At the point of salvage, the bracket was covered under numerous coats of paint. We spent about 2 hours removing the paint by hand (no power tools), and this doesn't include the time the bracket sat in boiling water to soften the paint. We got 99% of the paint off, but there are still specs and spots of paint here and there. The beauty and craftsmanship of the bracket is only equaled by it's superb condition. There are no flaws to report. It's ready for lifetime of service.
