Rauch was the historian for the Regimental Association of the Bucktail or First Rifle Regiment of the P.R.V.C. and Late Orderly-Sergeant Company F. With a dedicatory note by Late Lieutenant-Colonel Hon. Edward A. Irvin. viii + 466 pages comprising the Dedication, Preface, List of 16 Illustrations, Introduction, four Appendixes (Muster Roll, Regimental Association, Survivors, and Printed Sources Consulted), Index to Names and Places, and Corrigenda et Addenda. The book proper covers the genesis and organization of the Bucktails, campaigning in the state service, the winter of 1861, the Peninsular Campaign, Kane's Battalion, Pope's Army of Virginia, the Maryland Campaign, Burnside's Campaign, the Pennsylvania Invasion, "With Grand toward Richmond", and "Muster Out". Book is from the deadstock of the Morningside Press bookshop, and has light shelf wear and scuffing to the exterior, the reason for describing it as Used-Very Good.
