Grip has fish-skin/sharkskin wrap with brass twisted wire and crowned WR cipher (Royal Cipher of Kaiser Wilhelm II). Brass half basket hilt with fixed guard. Red felt buffer pad still in place. Plain double fullered blade with what looks to be a bend near end of blade, length of blade approximately 31 1/2 inches. Single ring steel based black painted scabbard. Overall decent condition.

Short sword does not fit all the way in the scabbard (sticks out about 1 inch), it appears this might not be the proper scabbard for the sword, comes close, however, does not fit all the way in and the scabbard and the scabbard throat flare appears to be a little too wide to fit within the cross guard area. Cross guard engraved with initials and nice Saxony coat of arms device on hand protector. Overall, an interesting short sword.
Excellent Imperial German Model 1835 Fusilier Sabre Etched Blade &Leather Sheath - The blade is steel and the guard is guilded brass. The sheath is leather with guilded brass fittings. There is also a small piece of red felt at the base of the blade (original to the sword) that was used to keep the sheath from scratching the guard when in use.
