Item:174033568020A sizeable fragment of a cuneiform tablet, ca. 1700 BC measuring approximately 3.25" at its widest point x approximately 2.5" and is about 1" thick at the widest point (toward the center of the tablet). There are about ten (10) lines of text across one face, divided into what look to be three columns. The reverse face exhibits one column of text, though there appear to be three demarcated in preparation for additional records. Some traces of charring are present along the preserved edge of the tablet, likely the result of fire that consumed the archive where the tablets were stored. The piece comes from the now defunct Helios Antiquities of Baltimore, MD, acquired in the 1980s through the now defunct Georges Moro (Lebanon and later Montreal). Probably originally from north Mesopotamia. Nice fragment! Please ask if questions. N.B. I will be listing at least one other within the coming days, so please check in.Provenance:Ownership History Not Available
