Antique French Chinoiserie Japonisme Bronze Ormolu Japanese Imari Porcelain Bowl

Today we are pleased to offer for sale a beautiful antique French Victorian centerpiece bowl!

This exquisite piece dates from the 19th century and is done in the Chinoiserie or Japonisme style, incorporating a lovely antique Japanese porcelain bowl decorated with Imari designs depicting garden scenes interspersed with geometrical panels, glazed with predominantly vivid red and blue colors. The porcelain has a gentle scalloped top border, which is topped by French gilt bronze ormolu mounts featuring a pierced diamond form top border, with two figural coral branch and dragon handles, the whole supported by a tripod base with figural mascaron feet and Gothic-inspired pierced border (one foot stamped BE). This exotic bowl will add exotic Victorian style to any room!

The bowl presents well and is in good antique condition, with minor wear and patina commensurate with age and display. The porcelain has minor wear, scuffing, a few firing imperfections, but no major damage. The mounts have some wear, tarnish, loss to gilding, and a few distortions; both the top gallery and base appear to have been reattached at some point in the past.
