Start, run and tune your engine before installing it into your car. I am a muscle car hobbyist, and like most, I have limited garage space for storing large equipment. I designed this engine start/test stand so that I could be sure my rebuilt engines were ready to run before installing into my newly restored cars. When I first looked around for starter stands, I couldn't find anything inexpensive or collapsible. With some tube steel, a drill and a welder (you must be able to weld), you can build one of these in a weekend.
This stand collapses to less than 9" deep to be stored against a wall or in a corner out of the way. It can be adapted to fit most V8 engines (I've run my 454 Chevelle engine shown in the picture and also my Ford Cleveland engine on it).
I accept no responsibility or liability for the functionality, craftsmanship or structural integrity of a stand built from these plans. I can only attest that I have built this stand per the plans and have run many small and large block engines on these stands.
The plans (a 23 page PDF file) will be emailed to you. I will email the plans anywhere in the world. I typically email the plans within 12 hours of purchase. However, I do travel for business or vacation occasionally (never more than a week). When this happens, I will email the plans immediately upon my return. Please include your email address with your order.
If you are interested in having a printed set of these plans mailed to you (USA only), see my other listing in Ebay Motors for $11.50.
