This is the second of these exceptionally beautiful, very rare and unusual BRITISH DECORATIVE ARTS (large) 8"  PLASTIC CLAY MAJOLICA tile depicting a design of DAISIES and STEMS OF CORN. HAND PAINTED in the most glorious, vivid  and unmistakable COLOUR MAJOLICA GLAZES. This tile was made by the talented and  much admired KING OF MAJOLICA GEORGE JONES, who having worked for MINTON, set up on his own in 1861. There was a plethora of shapes and designs, from JARDINIERES, to TEA POTS, SARDINE DISHES , to WALL POCKETS,, but TILES VERY RARELY COME ON THE MARKET. We have seen very few tile designs in the KARMASON COLLECTION in the book MAJOLICA A COMPLETE HISTORY and ILLUSTRATED SURVEY, by KARMASON and STACKE. but have never come across this beautiful design before. One not to be missed by tile collectors. . I can only repeat this is an extremely beautiful and  delightful  tile. All marked to the reverse with COMPANY NAME, YEAR MARKS and PATTERN NO, The condition is very good. There are a few scratches, some small bits of wear and a little surface dirt, which could be cleaned with some professional cleaning but not something I would be in the least concerned with.  No chips,  or cracks. The colours are extraordinary. The ROYAL BLUE GROUND is magnificent. Wonderful bright shiney surface glaze, simply glows.Majolica damages easily, being often heavily sculpted, so for tiles to survive that have been used in fireplaces and window boxes in good condition is for me very acceptable,. Scan does not do it the justice it deserves. Would look fantastic in any collection of tiles especially for collectors of MAJOLICA, ARTS AND CRAFTS DESIGNS, GEORGE JONES and  BRITISH ART POTTERY  or simply framed on its own as a DECORATIVE ARTS object. A very rare opportunity to acquire a true rarity. Buyer should be delighted. Should you require further info and or pics please do ask and we will do our best to assist. I nearly always scan the tiles, which although showing the details can frequently deny them their true beauty when the light catches them, so if you would like a photograph, you need only ask. Just a quick boring note re payment. Please do wait for invoice prior to paying. I am obliged to give a postage cost but need to have this confirmed at post office to give actual cost. I like to be fair with postal charges and paying too quickly can result in overpayment, even underpayment. should an item be more than £50 in value it is recommended to have it sent special delivery as any other shipping method will not cover insurance for damage to ceramics. Your interest, help and patience is much appreciated. I am happy to discuss postage with buyers to come to an agreeable compromise as I am all too aware of how shipping costs need to be calculated into the overall cost of an item. Communication is key!
