A large red-figure pottery fragment from an Apulian bell krater, a vessel used to dilute wine with added water. The black-glazed fragment displays a nude male in composite profile wearing a draped cloth over one shoulder, his right arm outstretched in front. A large spiralized palmette section curls in front of the figure's abdomen; a fretted band on the far left indicates where one handle terminal would have been, and a petite section of Greek key (meander) is visible on the bottom. Mounted against a fabric-lined wooden frame with three small iron stakes. Size (pottery fragment): 6" W x 6.75" H (15.2 cm x 17.1 cm); size (frame): 11.75" W x 13.125" H (29.8 cm x 33.3 cm). #136330 Condition: This is a fragment of a larger pottery vessel.
