French MODE ILLUSTREE SEWING PATTERN Oct 16,1898 BALL, THEATER, VISTING DRESSES. Year 1898 RARE VISITING DRESS (the blue dress on cover has its tracings on the pattern sheet), BALL GOWN, THEATER GOWN, EVENING CAPE + many other beautiful dresses and accessories for ladies and children French fashion magazine LA MODE ILLUSTREE dated October 16, 1898 (good copy) and its large sewing pattern sheet (good copy)
with full sized pattern pieces to be traced for the different pieces of clothing shown in the magazine. I try to capture the name of the dress or other piece of clothing or accessory when I take the picture but what you see after the cover of the magazine IS on the pattern. There are often more dresses or accessories but I don't have enough space on eBay to put them all or I don't have the next magazine. Obviously, with the number of patterns these tracings are on top of each other but easy to follow because of their particular markings on the pattern sheet (back sided). Example for a blouse n° 2 page 15 of the magazine you'll have the following random markings on the pattern : Sleeve : X+X+X+X Collar : --XX--XX Front : =+=+=+=+ Back : °-°-°-° etc All you have to do from here is to use a large piece of a transparent paper and trace the lines corresponding to your selected item of clothing The "MODE ILLUSTREE" patterns sheet size is 22 1/2" X 31" approx.
