Seller: larrydw (4,245) 100%, Location: Rowley, Massachusetts, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 382249575409 DL: 708044.1/2 This is a hand made pair of glass eyes; they come from an estate auction of a person who repaired dolls for a hobby and as a collector. These are elliptical and shaped to the opening for an eye. As they are hand made, there is some variation in the dimensions. I am showing pictures of the fronts, back, and a close-up of the typical front. These are about 1/2" long and 1/4" high. The iris diameter is about 3/16". They are in good condition although they may have been used and may have some residue of plaster or paint on the back. These eyes are easily set into any doll. I typically tack them in place with dabs of regular plaster of paris. When that is dry, I can put additional plaster around and over the back to firm them in place. You can also use the "lost wax" technique on bisque or china heads by applying melted candle wax around the eye rim, then setting the eyes in place. Once the wax has set, you can pour plaster onto the eye back setting them. Once the plaster is cures, you heat the head face down in a shallow pan in an oven (150 degrees or so) for about a minute or until the wax runs. Once the wax melts, you can wipe it away with a paper towel. Good condition, but unless otherwise noted, it is probably in used, played-with, and non-new condition from a previous doll.
