The item for sale is a Karagouna black wedding apron originating from Thessaly, Greece around 1935-1940. The apron is hand sewed and is made of black cloth. It is embroidered, by hand, with a beautiful gold thread traditional design and with a black cotton cloth at the top of the apron. In between the gold thread design, are multi colored hand-stitched sewings. The back side of the apron is without the cotton lining. Such aprons were worn by women at Thessaly area until the early 20th century, as part either of their wedding dress or other festivity events dresses. Due to time passed, the item bears some flaws. Please see photos carefully. The specific item belongs to my grandfather's personal collection of traditional folklore costumes and accessories and has been stored all these years in one of his private personal collection displays.
