Details: Beautiful vintage porcelain small pot with lid and handle made by Herend, Hungary in 1943.

Elegant white porcelain piece adorned with intricate hand painting:   magenta flowers ( motif of a peony surrounded by leaves) and gilding, a pattern known as Chinese Bouquet. This is one of the Herend Porcelain Manufactory's most popular décors, developed out of the Fleurs des Indes decoration. The origin of the pattern is associated with Count Albert Apponyi, for whom this simplified version of Fleurs des Indes was first prepared. The lid has a beautiful porcelain rose on top.

The Herend Porcelain Manufactory is a Hungarian manufacturing company, specializing in luxury hand painted and gilded porcelain. Founded in 1826, it is based in the town of Herend. The Herend porcelain is as famous as German Meissen.

There is a blue identifying back mark “ Herend Hungaria 1943” as

The “HEREND” impression is present on the bottom of the item and the form number “ 737” is also impressed. The presence of the crown on top of the shield indicates the date of manufacture before 1948. From 1939 to 1948 many marks had the year incorporated in the mark itself (as the 1943 in mark on this piece). THE MARK  DATES THIS PIECE TO THE 1943.

Measurements : The height of the small pot with the lid measures around 3", approx . 4" across the mouth and 7&1/4" long, handle included.

Condition: Extraordinary small pot with lid and handle in excellent condition. To be mentioned for the accuracy of the description, there is only a minuscule ding on one of the rose petals (on top of the lid), otherwise no scratches, chips or repairs. The hand painted decoration and gilding look great, the colors are vibrant.
