Temple Ruin. Angkor Wat Province, Cambodia. Museum Quality! Image Details:x A magnificent architectural Temple Boundary Marker Element, relief carved with figures positioned on each of the four sides, depicting Shiva and his consort Parvati, standing within arched floral sanctuary style niches, portrayed with their heads bound by an inter-connected diadem crown, and with four-arms holding attributes in each hand; dressed in court regalia, shown unclothed above the waist. The female deity wears a long stylized sampot, and the male deity wears a short knee length sampots, fashioned with a decorative central panel. Faces appear serene, with arched eyebrows set over almond-shaped eyes, broad noses, wide mouths, and elongated earlobes with triangular earring pendants. The stone boundary column is domed at the top, beautifully decorated in a jewelled band motif, carved with a small Buddha sanctuary on each side. This skillfully executed Temple Boundary Marker or Causeway Entry Element is a stylistic example of the Khmer culture and its dynamic artistry.
