The larger sized plaque shows a side profile portrait of Theodore Roosevelt done in relief. He is shown wearing a suit and the chain for his glasses runs down the side of his face and into his jacket. Underneath the portrait is a quote by Roosevelt that reads "Aggressive Fighting for the Right is the Nobelest Sport the World Affords." In the upper right corner it is signed "Fraser 1920." The back of the plaque has the original paper label in one corner. This label appears to read "The Roosevelt Bas Relief by James Earle Fraser. Copyrighted. Patent Applied For. All Rights Reserved by Decorative Arts League 175 Fifth Avenue. New York." James Earle Fraser was an American sculptor that was active during the late 1890s to the 1940s. His works are integral to many of Washington D.C.'s most iconic structures. His most iconic work, End of the Trail, was on display at the World's Columbian Exposition and the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. He also designed the Buffalo Nickel. The back of the plaque also has a wire hanger to easily hang the plaque on the wall. The plaque is made of cast iron with a bronze coating. It was produced as a limited casting by Decorative Arts League and was limited to just 25 pieces in the edition. Nice, intricate detailing is present throughout. Guaranteed to be old. This neat plaque would make a great addition to any Theodore Roosevelt or political memorabilia collection! Light oxidation is along the top. Very light wear from age and use.
