Large Ancient Roman Terracotta Antefix - ITALY - Circa 100 AD Ancient Roman antefix, or end roof tile, dating from 100 AD.  These were used to decorate the edge of Etruscan and Roman rooftops.  Depicts a head of Mercury, with a towering ancanthus behind. Some remains of gesso and paint remain.  Ancient encrustation throughout.  Small chips and stable cracks throughout, nothing major.
