The figure, stands with both hands held closely to the body, curled, the right hand holding an unknown object, may be a type of purse, the left hand holding a small unknown object. He wears a long green tunic the lower sides of which were a brown color, He wears black slippers, his pantaloons shown down to the tops of the shoes. Wears a conical hat originally a red color, the facial features highlighted by black paint. In as found original unrestored condition, likely an early Ming Dynasty piece. 8-3/4" (22.2cm) tall, 2-3/4" (7cm) wide, and 1-3/4" (4.4cm) front to back. Mounted and labeled on a polished antiqued wood plinth, the piece can be easily removed for examination, the overall height is 9-1/2" (24.2cm). The Ming dynasty, also Empire of the Great Ming, was the ruling dynasty of China for 276 years (1368–1644) following the collapse of the Mongol-led Yuan dynasty. The Ming, described by some as "one of the greatest eras of orderly government and social stability in human history," was the last dynasty in China ruled by ethnic Han Chinese.
