Late 19th Century Ceramic Painted Biscut Jar by Taylor, Tunnicliff & Co.
Up for your consideration is a late 19th century biscuit jar by the English firm Taylor, Tunnicliff & Co. They were in business from 1868 - 1898. The mark on the underside is a variation of what I can find online, but is clearly related. I've also found a match strike made with this same unique palette and pattern/texture. The piece measures just over 6.5" tall to the top of the finial. and is 5.5" in diameter. The top rim, lid and handle are silver plated. The underside of the lid is stamped 5996. There is a pattern on the handle that resembles bright-cutting. The ceramic has a pebbled texture to it, and has hand-applied gilding and turquoise blue accents. No issues. No wear to the silver.
