Mintons, Ltd. - Circa 1880 "Bird On Branch - No. 2425 E" Antique * Victorian/Craftsman * Monochrome * Molded Majolica Presenting a quality antique tile, which features a naturally rendered, small woodland bird, which is perched upon a thin, leafy, tree branch. This tile is richly glazed in a deep walnut brown, which flawlessly coats the tile's design, but suffers some minor losses at the tiles extreme, raised, framing, edge. Perfectly suited for any Victorian era motif, or followers of the Craftsman style, this beautiful tile was created by, "Mintons, Ltd.," of, Stoke Upon Trent, England, circa 1880, within their "China Works" factory. Condition: Very Good The verso is free of mortar residue and smoke stains, but is a bit grubby with glaze smudges and its many years of being exposed to cleaning, as it probably was part of a vanished piece of furniture's tile backsplash, and not a fireplace, or hearth. The grip pattern is absolutely Mintons' of this period and is embossed with their "China Works" factory address, where this tile was made.
