T. Swetnam," around 1885. One may find this artist's initials engraved upon this tile's lower left corner "L.T.S.," which is still fully legible. This series of pictorial landscape tiles by Mintons was quite popular, yet it is still not so easy to collect the full set of these 138 year old tiles. Of all Mintons pictorial tile series, these are the one most often found originally framed as objects of art, and hung on a wall, instead of being fixed around some fireplace hearth, or upon a washstand's back splash. The tile's grip (back) is clearly embossed with Mintons' China Works address. Condition: Excellent The tile presents itself very nicely and is perfect for framing in a wide, dark, ornate, Victorian era frame.
