This five section, divided sweetmeat serving tray / dish is interesting because it comes complete with the original hand lacquered, bamboo box. Made by Moriyama Mori-Machi as evidenced by the bottom stamp, and according to Gotheborg, this colorful, hand painted item dates to the early 1920's. The carrier (box) is made of bamboo and was hand finished in a bright yellow and red floral design. The inside of the box is signed in blue ink, "Marie Murray 1959". Each of the trays five compartments are decorated with colorful floral bouquets over a white background. The tray is in excellent condition except for crazing of the glaze which is perfectly normal for a piece made in that era.
