Item:223675251504Large Chinese very early Yangshao culture (5000-3000 B,C.) amphora jar of redware terra-cotta pottery paint decorated over body. Two loop handles. Reddish color supposedly derived from the use of cinnabar. Completely intact with some surface abrasions, paint checking and several stable cracks. Though we acquired this piece from a private W. Coast American collection which attributed it as "Ptlolemaic Egyptian", further examination by authorities agree (based on material, design, and decoration) on its Neolithic Chinese origin. 6-1/4" tall, 18" circumference. This type of utilitarian pot was probably used for food storage and/or preparation. Guaranteed authentic as represented.FREE SHIPPING!
