This listing is for a scarce 20th century Newcomb College pottery tile with green grasshopper on a blade of grass, four-leaf clover in grass to the lower left, and background with white crackle glaze. The grasshopper and four-leaf clover both traditional symbols of good luck.
Tile measures 4 1/4" . Marked on back with N in C Newcomb College impressed mark. There is a notch on back for wall hanging but previous owner apparently attached a picture hanger above that with glue of some type. That can be removed if you wanted to frame or otherwise mount the tile without it but it might take some patience. As to condition, very good overall with a few small random nicks on the glaze of the grasshoppers feet and blade of grass. Back edge with a small sliver of chip. Everything else appears to be original and under glaze. Please see photos enlarged for the best description.
